The capture of Jerusalem and the temple represented on the triumphal arch in Rome.
The Land of Israel , called ” Eretz Yisrael “in Hebrew, is considered the sacred land of the Jewish people since Biblical times. According to the Torah , the Land of Israel was promised to the three patriarchs of the Jewish people by God, as a Jewish homeland. The historians place this time around the beginning of the second millennium BC 9 According to the Bible, the first Israelite kingdoms and states are accordingly in the region. These Kingdoms will govern the region for a millennium, successively interrupted by numerous invasions. Sacred sites mentioned and the four holy cities of Judaism, each associated with four elements (Jerusalem – fire, Hebron – earth, Safed – air, Tiberias – water) 10 , are located in the Land of Israel.
The end of the province of Judea at the end of the Mamluk on Palestine
Between the period of Israelite kingdoms and the Muslim conquest in the vii th century AD, the Land of Israel fell to successive Assyrians , Babylonians , Persians , Greeks , Romans , Sassanids and Byzantines . However, the population, mostly Jewish, begin to decline after the war against the Roman Empire during the First Jewish-Roman War , between 66 and 73 AD , then the Jewish-Roman War ( War of Kitos ) 11 and the Bar Kokhba Revolt in 132 AD , which will cause the forced exile of a majority and the new name of the region in the province of Syria-Palestine , and later , Palestine , in an attempt to clear the link between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel 12 . In 628 – 629 AD , a Jewish revolt against the Byzantine emperor Heraclius lead to a mass murder and total expulsion of Jews from the region. The Jewish population of the region is greatly reduced and probably reached its lowest point. However, a minority Jewish presence was maintained continuously.
The center of the Jewish population shifted from Judea (Jerusalem area and south of Jerusalem) in Galilee (region of Galilee ) from the i st century , following the Roman occupation of Jerusalem. The Mishnah and parts of the Talmud and the Jerusalem Talmud , which, apart from the Torah , the most important texts of Judaism, were composed in Israel during this period. In 636 AD , the Land of Israel was taken by the Arab Muslims. The control of the region fell to the Umayyad and the Abbasids. The region was ruled by the time the Crusaders , mainly francs, from 1099 to 1260 , when the region fell to the Mamluks .
The period of Ottoman rule
In 1516 , during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent , the Land of Israel (called Filistin Sancağı , Sancak of Palestine at that time) became part of the Ottoman Empire , which ruled the region until the early xx th century , with the exception of the brief invasion of French troops of Napoleon, which some say he envisaged the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine under French protection 13 . The end of the Ottoman Empire after the First World War, placed the region under administration (1917) and then British mandate (1922) after approval by the League of Nations . Although very difficult to estimate, the population of the entire region of Palestine would amount to around 400 000 inhabitants in the xix th century , including 100 000 to 200 000, according to sources at the time (Turkish census demographers and contemporary), within the boundaries of the future state of Israel in 1893 14 , approximately between 4 and 9 inhabitants per km 2 against 357 inhabitants per km 2 in 2009 [ ref. desired] .

Is there any financial aid available to bring a cancer patient over seas to Houston? If not, how much?

Posted on May 14th, 2013 by admin

My 10 year old nephew had been diagnosed in Israel with T-Cell Leukemia earlier this morning, I live in Houston and some of the best cancer treatment available is here. Is there anyway to bring him overseas in order to retrieve better treatment here?

All of these websites appear to have very useful and up-to-date information regarding this question. I would also suggest contacting congressmen, governor, other politicians and houses of worship who might be able to assist.

This is a wonderful website about how to find Cancer specialists for overseas patients: http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Therapy/doctor-facility

What if Israel were a Soviet ally instead of an American one?

Posted on May 14th, 2013 by admin

It’s possible that if the Soviets and the Israelis were buddy-buddy, Israel would have been more heavily Jewish populated much earlier. I could see if Israel was supported by the Soviets and America was supporting the surrounding countries, the Soviets could release millions of Jewish Russians to Israel who wanted to leave the country anyway.

So you have maybe up to 3 million Jewish Soviet immigrants to Israel.

What say you?

We would probably still have an embargo on israel.

So it goes.

The problem is that the jewish population in america has been really high for a while now, in the 90s it was over 5 million. More than in israel.

Israeli officials confirm air strike on Syrian target

Posted on May 6th, 2013 by admin

israel assistance http://www.euronews.com/ Israel has confirmed its warplanes have carried out an air strike into Syria. Unnamed Israeli officials said the target was a shipment of missiles believed to have been bound for Hezbollah militants in neighbouring Lebanon.

Previous reports that planes had struck a Syrian chemical weapons factory have been denied.

The strike took place on Friday but was apparently launched from Lebanese airspace.

And there have been more reports of the shelling of civilian targets by Syrian government forces with more unverified footage said to show the aftermath of one such attack.

On Saturday activists said a number of people had died in the town of Baniyas. It follows Thursday’s reports of Syrian government troops storming the village of Baida killing at least 50 people.

Meanwhile President Barack Obama has ruled out sending in US troops:

“I do not foresee a scenario in which boots on the ground in Syria, American boots on the ground in Syria, would not only be good for America, but also would be good for Syria,” said Obama.

The United States says it will continue sending humanitarian aid to the Syrian rebels, but not arms.

However any use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime would amount to a “game changer”.

Israel beats drums of war against Syria

Posted on May 6th, 2013 by admin

israel assistance Officials in Israel are goading the US into taking action against the Syrian government over its reported use of chemical warfare. The official said that Syria has now crossed a “red line” threshold set by the Obama administration. But the US President seemed hesitant speaking from the White House.

Despite the Syrian government denying the use of chemical weapons on Syrians or any plans of ever doing so there is some uneasiness in Washington that Israel may be trying to manipulate the US into taking military action in Syria above the assistance the White House has pledged.

The Motorcycle Terrorist: Misleading Headlines

Posted on May 6th, 2013 by admin

pro israel When the Israel Defense Forces killed a wanted terrorist, a number of major media focused on the fact that he was riding a motorcycle when he was killed.

Hithem Ziad Ibrahim Masshal was connected to recent rocket fire on Eilat. The rockets were fired from the Egyptian Sinai, so Masshal certainly internationalizes the conflict.

Masshal was affiliated with Hamas, but left the group because they were too moderate for him. He joined the Shura Council of the Mujahaideen in Jerusalem and was responsible for extensive terror activity against Israelis.

So how was this reported in the news? Sky News ran the following headline:

Israel: Airstrike On Gaza Kills Motorcyclist

The Guardian had a similar headline:

Israeli air strike kills Gaza motorcyclist

And the Independent went with:

Motorcyclist killed in first Israeli air strike on Gaza since November truce

Motorcyclist?

Was he wearing a helmet?
