Leadership Training Round 1

The first round of the seminars, which runs from 9:30am-5:30pm over five days, seeks to provide participants with a thorough overview of the challenges and opportunities facing the Arab-American community and those who volunteer to take up the burden of activism and leadership. These seminars focus on conceptualizing the main political issues facing Arab Americans, the controversies that bedevil our community and the broad American political terrain in which young activists will be operating. To that end the first round seminars primarily focus on the following issues:

>These issues are discussed not as lectures but as workshops which emphasize interactive exchange between the group members, on the understanding that no one has been able to find a perfect solution to addressing such difficult topics and the the group can work best by helping each other think them through. In addition, first round seminar participants are addressed by some of the most experienced and accomplished Arab Americans in the nation, including Governor John Sununu, James Zogby, Ziad Asali, Kareem Shora, Maya Berry, George Cody, and Hisham Melhem, in addition to other distinguished individuals such as Grover Norquist who has been one of Washington’s most effective issues management strategists for over a decade.
