Mission Statement

The Hala Salaam Maksoud Foundation for Arab-American Leadership is dedicated to identifying, nurturing and developing future Arab-American leaders.

Hala Salaam Maksoud was the quintessential expression of Arab-American leadership: intellectually gifted, politically masterful, and deeply compassionate. She possessed vision, wisdom, strength and a boundless sense of humanity. Hala Salaam Maksoud was Arab-American leadership at its shining best. She believed that for Arab Americans to achieve their rightful place in American national life, and in the broader global context, it is imperative for them to cultivate new generations of gifted leaders.

Consistent with the leadership exemplified by Hala Salaam Maksoud, the Foundation's goal is to identify, educate and motivate outstanding young individuals who demonstrate the promise of becoming tomorrow's Arab-American leaders:

• Leaders driven to inspire positive change in the Arab-American community;
• Leaders committed to protecting the civil and political rights of Arab Americans;
• Leaders dedicated to erasing misperceptions about Arabs;
• Leaders inspired by the rich and legacy and motivated by humanistic values and American democracy;
